Team captain Lucky Lekgwathi reveals that with the level of competition for places in the team increasing by the day, all players have doubled their efforts in order to impress the technical as the new season is about to begin.

He said that with Professor Augusto Palacios at the helm, those who wish to secure a place in the team cannot afford to be complacent, “even when we play friendly matches.”

He said: “It does not feel like we are doing preseason training.

“There has been a tremendous amount of commitment from everyone, which is a good thing going into the new season.

“The coming season will perhaps be the toughest of all seasons for us and I am glad the team still has the same fighting spirit even when we are doing preseason. The new guys have brought a new dimension to the team, which has increased the level of commitment from everyone.

“Our real test of readiness will be in the Carling Cup,” he adds. “We have to start well and defend the cup. Winning gives us motivation and if we do well in the Carling Cup, I think we will stand a good chance of giving a good shot on defending the MTN8 Cup,” Lekgwathi concluded.
