Freak storm halts match

Last night's (Wednesday) eagerly anticipated match between Orlando Pirates and Black Leopards was abandoned due to bad weather.
With no fewer than ten minutes played, a gust of wind blew advertising boards onto the field and onto the stands, striking players and match officials.
Referee on the night - Charl Theron - resumed play after the boards were removed from the field, but the restart was short lived 5 minutes later by a thunderstorm. Theron blew the whistle and ordered the players to evacuate the field.
Orlando Pirates captain Lehlohonolo Seema, who was struck by one of the advertising boards, has recovered from what looked like a serious injury, the player has been assessed and he has been cleared.
The match against Black Leopards will be rescheduled - Orlando Pirates will announce the new date as soon as it's made available.
