Orlando Pirates midfielder Andile Jali has underlined the importance of forgetting about Wednesday night’s setback and regroup ahead of the Soweto Derby against Moroka Swallows on Saturday.

In an interview with Orlandopiratesfc.com, the Amajita star revealed why it is important to forget about the disappointing 2-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns and focus on the three points on offer at the weekend.

“Look, it’s all in the past…we lost the match, so we have to forget about it and move forward as soon as possible,” said a disappointed Jali.

“I think it was one of those matches when almost everything didn’t go well for us, that’s why it is so important to forget about Wednesday’s result and focus on our next league match against Moroka Swallows on Saturday.

“Although, we lost against Sundowns, I believe we are still amongst the top teams on the log and challenging for the league title. We are not going to give up now, we will continue to fight until the end because anything is possible in the game.

“To be honest, we have to give credit where it’s due, I think Sundowns planned well and the players stuck to it, hence they got the better of us on the night.”

Jali revealed that following the defeat to Sundowns there was an eerie silence in the change room, and believes that this will aid as a catalyst to spur the team on when they host the Dube Birds at the Orlando Stadium.

“We lost to Sundowns just when we thought we have turned the corner following our victories over Bloemfontein Celtic and Ajax Cape Town…so you can imagine how this affected us. We were all devastated in the change room…this result really came as a shock to us.”

He added: “But like I said earlier, we need to use this negative and turn it into a positive sooner rather than later. The game against Swallows awaits and we have everything to play for.

“I believe we have learnt our lesson, and from here onwards we have to display nothing but 110% effort,” he concluded.
