MDC Update: Young Bucs looking to bounce back

Posted on Thursday, October 06, 2016 - 12:17

The Orlando Pirates Multichoice Diski Challenge team will look to bounce back to winning ways when they lock horns with Chippa United this weekend.

Pirates go into the match on the back of a disappointing 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Maritzburg United and will be eager to get back to winning ways and claw their way back up the log table.

The defeat to United was Head Coach Zipho Dlangalala’s first since taking over the reins and a second defeat as many games would be unthinkable amongst the Bucs faithful.

Pirates currently sit in fifth place, three points behind log leaders Bidvest Wits who have an unblemished record so far with three wins in three matches.

Chippa United on the other hand, are in tenth place, with one win under their belt after three matches.

Like Pirates, the Chilli Boys come into this encounter on the back of a defeat. They too will be eyeing a bounce back to winning ways, which makes Saturday’s encounter that more difficult for Dlangalala and company.

The match will be played in Nelspruit at the Kanyamazane Stadium and the Young Buccaneers come into this clash with some injuries following their match with the First Team on Wednesday.

Hardworking midfielder, Katlego Molaba suffered a knock to the knee after a tackle from Ntsikilelo Nyauza. Moalaba will undergo a late fitness test to determine to determine whether he will be part of the traveling squad. Goalkeeper Siyabonga Mphontshane who has played between the sticks for two of the three MDC matches has been ruled out for this encounter due to a knee injury, this opens the door for 19-year old Tsebo Tsotetsi. Tsotetsi has been an unused substitute for all three matches.

Kick-off on Saturday is 13h00.
