Successful Matric Holiday Programme

Posted on Friday, July 21, 2017 - 11:03

While most students were enjoying their last week of the winter holidays, Matric pupils were hard at work preparing for their final exams at the Orlando Pirates Learning Centre.

Students from local high schools, namely Emadwaleni high, Lofentse Girls high, Alberton High and Selelekela high attended the week long programme at Orlando Stadium.

The Matric revision programme uses the successful Easypass programme to help pupils revise for their exams. Easypass is an online resource which gives learners the opportunity to answer questions about all subjects they are doing in their final year of school.

The programme provides up to date, immediate feedback on each question and helps the learners to see exactly which areas they need help with and which areas they are confident in.

Easypass uses revision to reinforce learning giving the students the opportunity to continue practising tests so that they gain confidence and become familiar with subject vocabulary.

Easypass also provides a tracking tool where students can track their progress and see their results for each section of work. CAPS aligned curriculum questions are provided to the students in an interactive and enjoyable way through the programme. The students can continue working on the resource at home or at school whenever they have internet access which also alleviates classroom pressure.

One of the students, Nkanyezi Ndaba from Alberton High School said: “Easypass is a very effective and easy to use testing site. It is not only easily accessible but provides feedback for every section attempted. It is the go-to site for matric revision and I recommend all Matrics to use it.”

Junior Maphalala from Selelekela High School added: “The Orlando Pirates Learning Centre is a platform for underprivileged matriculants and students to improve their marks and gain university entrance. Offering Easypass for free has given the community a fun and effective way for the youth to empower themselves. It’s like having a teacher with you every step of the way offering intriguing questions and giving you answers and feedback on each question.”

The Orlando Pirates Learning Centre continues to uplift the community around Soweto by offering access to relevant, up to date learning materials. The centre will offer more and more Matric pupils the chance to use Easypass as the year progresses and we move towards the final exams.
