Bucs duo ride cup final tight rope

25 May, 2017

Orlando Pirates go into the final league match of the season with one eye on the cup final next month.

The Mighty Buccaneers travel down to Durban over the weekend with two players, one booking away from suspension. Only time will tell whether the coach, Kjell Jonevret will risk including Dove Wome and Happy Jele into the traveling squad to face Abafana be’sthende on Saturday.

Despite there being a mathematical chance of qualifying for the top eight, there is very little left for Pirates to play for in the league on Saturday. The Buccaneers are currently in eleventh position (with 33 points), three points adrift the final top eight berth currently held by Ajax Cape Town (36 points). Bucs’ opponents – Arrows, are in ninth place (35 points).

With other teams in the league already playing some of their younger players this season, only time will tell whether Jonevret will give some of the younger players such Thabiso Kutumela and Yusuf Maart a run come Saturday.
