He came to the club as a highly rated striker in the country.

This former Municipality worker revealed up on signing for the team from Soweto, that he comes to the Sea Robbers with the hope of reviving his career and help the team achieve success.

“I think Pirates has the type of players that can help me play my best football,” he told

“This is a team that is after success every season – second best here is deemed as failure so, I think I have the same ambition as the club, that is why I joined the team; besides, when a big team like Pirates comes calling it becomes difficult to ignore that call,” he added.

Bacela broke into the professional ranks at the age of 25 in the National First Division.

He played for Santos in Cape Town, before joining Bloemfontein Celtic where he spent three seasons. He helped Celtic win the Telkom Knock out Cup in 2012, and was the top goal scorer for Pirates in the Telkom Knock out Cup and MTN8 in the 2013/14 season.
