Midfield livewire Dikgang Mabalane says that they will be focusing on nothing else but a victory when they host Engen Santos at the Orlando stadium on Saturday night.

Speaking to Orlandopiratesfc.com, Mabalane said that the two back to back draws they registered against BIDVest Wits and Free State Stars had fired the team up for a victory.

“We are more spirited by the fact that we played two draws in our last two league matches, and collected only two points from a possible six. The pressure to stay on top is catching-up with us, and thus making this weekend’s match a must-win for the team.”

Head coach Rudolf Krol’s men have been in fine form since the start of the 2009/10 PSL campaign but in recent matches they have failed to win, raising questions on their sustainability at the top of the PSL table, but Mabalane is confident that Bucs will redeem themselves this weekend.

“Of course, the past results didn’t go very well with us, that’s why we are fully focused on collecting maximum points on Saturday and nothing less as we are determined to stretch our lead and maintain at the top of the log.

"The match against Santos is going to be a real test for us, they are on song at the moment and they will certainly be difficult opponents to beat. We will need to give more than 100 percent against them, and be at our best,” Mabalane adds.

The skillful winger said victory over The People's Team would serve as a catalyst to get the team back into the groove and keep the chasing pack of BIDVest Wits and Bloemfontein Celtic at bay.

“Despite our aim of winning this one to bring back our confidence as soon as possible, we also know the importance of collecting full points on Saturday as we are aware that a draw or even worse losing to Santos, will decide our fate at the top of the log, that’s if, Wits and Celtic win their respective matches at the weekend.

"Nonetheless, I personally feel that we are still the best team in contention for the league title. We are still on top of the log and still undefeated. We just need to start converting the chances we create," said Mabalane.
