Following a collision with an Amazulu player last night in the ABSA premiership match between Orlando Pirates versus Amazulu, Orlando Pirates captain Benson Mhlongo has been ruled out for Saturday’s clash against Kaizer Chiefs.

According to a medical report from Lazarus Maphakela Orlando Pirates team doctor, which arrived on Orlandopiratesfc.com desk this morning, Mhlongo contracted a deformation on his left knee caused by the dislocation of the knee cap during the collision.

An X-Ray conducted at a near by clinic revealed that ‘Mayanga’ dislocated a Patella on his knee. The report further reads that Mholongo’s dislocation was reduced and was brought back to normal under strong local analgesics, before he was sent to a private clinic.

The inspirational midfielder who has just returned to the national team fold after his leadership capabilities and enterprise display caught the eyes of the national team selectors, was replaced in the 13th minute of the first half by Mlungisi Mdluli, and his absence was duly felt as Pirates lost 2 - 1 to the Durban based club.

“He is definitely out for the weekend game. The specialist will decide after seeing the repeat X-ray,” the report concluded.

Meanwhile, the team has touched down in Johannesburg, and they will be preparing this afternoon for the match against Chiefs.
