Orlando Pirates Reserves travel to Vanderbijlpark on Saturday to take on TS Galaxy in their next DStv Diski Challenge assignment.
Isak Steyl Stadium will provide the backdrop as the two sides renew rivalries, bringing the day’s Reserve League action to a close.
Form Guide
It’s another opportunity for the Bucs Reserves to keep the heat on the log-leading Cape Town City, with three points separating the two sides at the top of the standings 16 games into the campaign.
They head into the fixture on the back of two straight wins, having posted 2-0 victories against Richards Bay and Maritzburg United respectively to make it four wins in their five most recent outings.
Since the start of the new year, the Buccaneers have averaged two goals per game, and will look to carry their free-scoring feats into their clash against Galaxy, who were kept goalless in their last fixture.
Fresh off a 3-0 defeat to Swallows, the young Rockets have now gone four games without a win.
They have picked up a mere five points over their last five matches and currently occupy 12th place in the standings with a game in hand, and a win on Saturday could earn them a spot in the top half of the table.
Head-to-Head
The two sides will be meeting for the second time this season after the Buccaneers clinched a 1-0 victory at Rand Stadium in mid-January, courtesy of a second-half penalty from Cassius Spandiel.
They will be looking to make it three wins in a row against Galaxy, having also beaten them on the road during the 2021/22 season.
The Rockets have however also had some success in this fixture, as they registered a win over the Soweto Giants in January last year.
