DStv Diski Challenge action moves to Mpumalanga Stadium in Hammarsdale this weekend, where Orlando Pirates Reserves will be hosted by AmaZulu on Saturday.
It’s another top-four opponent for the Bucs Reserves, who are in an intense race for the title with just seven games left to play.
Form Guide
They head into the fixture on the back of a morale-boosting 3-1 win against rivals Kaizer Chiefs, which brought a three-game winless run to an end while preserving their hopes of silverware as they remain stationed in third place, just two points behind the table-topping SuperSport United.
The Soweto Giants will hope that the result has signalled a turnaround in fortunes, having claimed a total of eight points in their five most recent games.
It’s also an opportunity for the Buccaneers to bag their first win on the road since beating Chippa United in their own backyard in late February.
To do so, they will have to go past an Usuthu side that comes into the clash reeling from a 3-1 defeat to Durban rivals Golden Arrows, which ended a three-match winning streak.
AmaZulu have fared slightly better than Pirates in their last five outings, grabbing nine points through their three victories, and will be eager to prove that their last result was a minor bump on the road as they look to strengthen their hold on fourth place in the standings.
Head-to-Head
The fixture has produced a winner in each of its last five instalments, but the Bucs Reserves will be eager to turn the tide on Saturday, having been on the losing side in their last two clashes against their Usuthu counterparts.
They do however hold a slight upper hand in the games played since the start of the 2019/20 campaign, winning three and losing just twice.
Pirates also have a good away record during this period, with two victories in as many games on the road, and will look to continue in that vein this weekend.
