Orlando Pirates Reserves are at Wits University Stadium for their next fixture, and will face Marumo Gallants in the DStv Diski Challenge on Saturday afternoon.
With just three games remaining before the end of the year, the Bucs Reserves are in search of nothing less than nine points in a bid to climb up the standings.
They head into their clash against Gallants sitting fifth on the table after clinching maximum points against Maritzburg United last Saturday.
That result was only their third of the season and broke a streak of three games without a win, where they had claimed just two points.
In their last five games, Pirates have collected a total of eight points through two wins and as many draws, while suffering a single defeat.
They now square off against a Gallants side returning from a 2-2 draw against a ten-man Richards Bay - a result that brought them up to 11th place in the league standings.
The Limpopo-based outfit have managed five points in their last five outings, winning once and drawing twice, also suffering two defeats during this period.
They have struggled with consistency throughout the campaign, and have won just twice in their eight matches played so far.
The rivalry between these two sides is one of the youngest at this level, with only two games played so far.
It has been a one-sided affair, with the Pirates Reserves boasting 10 unanswered goals over the two fixtures, which both occurred during the 2021/22 season.
This was courtesy of a 6-0 victory at Rand Stadium in November last year, which was followed by a 4-0 win in favour of the Buccaneers when they travelled to Polokwane in the latter half of the campaign.
