DStv Diski Challenge Preview: Sekhukhune United

18 February, 2023

Orlando Pirates Reserves make their way to Wits Football Stadium for their next DStv Diski Challenge fixture, where they will host Sekhukhune United this Saturday.

The next generation of South African football stars will be on display in another exciting weekend of Reserve League action, with the young Buccaneers closing out the opening day’s action.

Form Guide

They head into the clash on the back of an excellent performance on the road, where they defeated TS Galaxy 3-1 in their clash held in Vanderbijlpark.

The result was the Bucs Reserves’ third straight win, bringing them within a point of the top of the standings after log leaders Cape Town City dropped points over the weekend.

They will look to continue in their winning ways, having collected 15 out of the available 18 points in their six games played in the new year.

Sekhukhune, on the other hand, have not had the same level of consistency, but will nonetheless be a tricky opponent for the young Buccaneers.

They come off a morale-boosting win against Royal AM, which ended a winless run that stretched to three games.

In 2023, Babina Noko have so far lost just once, but managed just nine points in their six outings, courtesy of two wins and three draws.

Head-to-Head

Pirates Reserves boast the perfect record against their Sekhukhune counterparts in what is a relatively new rivalry.

In their three encounters to date, the young Buccaneers have won in each occasion and are yet to concede a goal while putting six past Babina Noko.

They have an opportunity to complete a second league double over the visitors, following their 2-0 victory on the road earlier in the season.
