Bucs Stars Depart for October Internationals

Five Orlando Pirates players have departed the Bucs camp to join their respective national teams ahead of a series of international friendlies taking place later in the week.

Ghana and South Africa resume preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers and next year’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in the Ivory Coast, and have each assembled squads featuring Buccaneers stars.

Fixtures against Mexico and the United States are lined up for the Black Stars, who have included goalkeeper Richard Ofori in their squad. The experienced shot-stopper has been retained by national team coach Chris Hughton after his return to the setup during the previous international break.

He featured in his side’s 3-1 win over Liberia in September, coming on as a sub to make his first international appearance in almost a year.

Ghana take on Mexico in Charlotte on Sunday before concluding their US tour with a clash against the host nation in Nashville next Wednesday.

The rest of the Buccaneers that will be on display in the coming days are all part of the 23-man squad named by Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos last week.

The Belgian mentor has retained defender Nkosinathi Sibisi and forwards Monnapule Saleng and Zakhele Lepasa, who all made appearances in friendlies against Namibia and DR Congo a month ago. Meanwhile, fullback Paseka Mako has been rewarded for consistent form with a call-up and is in line for his first international cap.

The Bucs quartet could be on show this Friday as South Africa host Eswatini before jetting off to the Ivory Coast for a clash in Abidjan four days later.
