Orlando Pirates will host Venda Football Academy at Orlando Stadium in the Round of 16 of the 2022/23 edition of the Nedbank Cup, after the two teams were paired against each other in the draw that took place on Wednesday.
Only 16 teams remain in the tournament, following an exciting opening round that took place over the past week, where 11 top flight teams made the cut for the next stage of the competition alongside five sides from the lower leagues.
The Buccaneers are now set to face a Motsepe Foundation Championship outfit for the second consecutive round after opening their campaign with a 2-0 win against All Stars at Wits Football Stadium last Saturday.
They now square up against the men from Limpopo, who take to the road for the third time in this year’s competition, having defeated Hungry Lions away from home in the preliminary round before edging past FC Black Cross in the Round of 32.
The two sides will be meeting for the first time, with Venda eyeing a big scalp as they lock horns with the Soweto Giants, who are looking to take another step in their bid for a ninth Nedbank Cup title and their second piece of silverware in the ongoing season.
The Round of 16 fixtures are scheduled for mid-March, with the actual dates and kick-off times set to be confirmed by the League in due course.
