Orlando Pirates Reserves continue their DStv Diski Challenge campaign as they take on Chippa United at Tsakane Stadium on the weekend.
It’s another exciting festival showcasing the next generation of South African football stars, and the young Buccaneers will be among the first on display when they take to the field early on Saturday afternoon.
Form Guide
They head into the fixture looking to bounce back after disappointment on the road, where they were edged by Cape Town City in Sunday’s 1-0 defeat at Malta Park Sports Complex.
The defeat was their first of the season and dropped them from second to fourth in the standings after five games played.
Having collected 10 points at this stage of the competition, courtesy of three wins and a draw, the Bucs Reserves will be gunning for another maximum-points haul against a side looking to rediscover winning form after managing a single point in their last two outings.
Chippa are currently in eighth place following last weekend’s 2-2 stalemate at home to SuperSport United, which came on the back of defeat away to TS Galaxy.
The team from the Easten Cape has collected seven out of a possible 15 points thus far, winning on two occasions, and will be on a mission to bag their third as they look to ascend from mid-table.
Head-to-Head
The two sides have had many intriguing battles over the years, but it’s mainly been the Buccaneers who have had results go their way in recent seasons.
The Bucs Reserves completed a league double over the young Chilli Boys in the previous campaign, winning 3-1 in the festival held in KwaMhlanga before triumphing with an identical scoreline on their visit to Gqebera.
They have won four of their last five encounters with Chippa, losing just once and have scored 12 goals during this period while only concedings six.
