Another home assignment awaits Orlando Pirates Reserves, who host their Polokwane City counterparts at Rand Stadium in the DStv Diski Challenge on Sunday.
It’s another early kick off for Joseph Makhanya’s troops, with the two sides gearing up to revive a rivalry that has been placed on hold for a little over three years.
Form Guide
Home ground advantage yielded an emphatic victory for the Buccaneers last time out, as they put four unanswered goals past Soweto rivals Moroka Swallows to walk away with derby spoils.
The victory was their second successive triumph and they remain unbeaten in their three games played thus far with seven points on the board.
They kicked the fourth game week in third place, and have an opportunity to make further strides up the table by completing a hat-trick of wins early on in the campaign.
The visitors however pose a different challenge, as they head into the clash desperate for their first win on their return to the top flight.
City earned their first point of the season away to Golden Arrows, who came back from two goals down to force a stalemate.
The result brought them up to 13th place, and they will be eager to ascend further up by upsetting the young Buccaneers.
Head-to-Head
This will be the first fixture involving the two teams since the Limpopo outfit exited the Reserve League following the 2019/20 season.
Their last encounter ended in a 2-0 home victory for Pirates, with Sifiso Luthuli and Simiso Bophela each finding the net in the second half.
That took the Bucs Reserves winning streak in the fixture to three consecutive, where they have netted a total of six goals and conceded none.
