Orlando Pirates Reserves are at home for their next DStv Diski Challenge fixture, as they prepare to host Richards Bay FC at Rand Stadium on Saturday.
With the season reaching its halfway point, the home side will be fighting to remain within a shot of the title while coming up against a side desperate to scale up to the top half of the standings.
Form Guide
The Bucs Reserves are in second place – five points behind the table-topping Cape Town City – after suffering a 4-2 defeat on the road against Mamelodi Sundowns.
That result brought to an end an impressive winning streak that began in October, where they collected all 18 available points in their six matches, scoring 13 times and only letting in two goals.
Having conceded their biggest losing margin since match day 3 of the competition, the Soweto Giants will be eager to prove that the result was just a minor stumbling block as they look to revive their title challenge.
They will have to do so against a Richards Bay side coming to the fixture on the back of a confidence-boosting 3-1 win against Chippa United.
The victory was their first since mid-October, and brought to an end a winless run of seven matches that only yielded three points.
With a total of three wins so far in their debut season, the KwaZulu-Natal outfit remains in the bottom half of the table in 13th place and will aim to claim a second successive win for the first time in their campaign.
Head-to-Head
It will be a historic occasion between these two sides as they will be meeting for the first time at this level, with the current season being Richards Bay’s first in the Reserve League.
