Orlando Pirates Reserves are in Durban for their next DStv Diski Challenge assignment, which is against Maritzburg United Reserves at Princess Magogo Stadium on Saturday.
The two sides will be on show in another football festival which takes place in KwaMashu over the weekend as the competition heats up a few weeks before a lengthy FIFA break.
Form Guide
The Bucs Reserves have collected two points in their last three matches, and occupy ninth place on the log. They will look to do better than their most recent results, having managed two consecutive draws, both from a winning position.
Seven games into the new season, the Soweto Giants have completed just two victories, falling on the losing side twice and playing to a total of three stalemates.
They will be aiming to turn their fortunes around against a high-flying Maritzburg side coming off a 4-2 victory in their KZN Derby clash against Richard’s Bay.
The Team of Choice will be hoping that the result signalled a turnaround in fortunes having endured a tough period since their winning start to the campaign.
The win broke a spell of four games without a win and propelled them up to 11th place in the standings after being nestled in the bottom two for the past few weeks.
Head-to-Head
This fixture churned out an impressive seven goals across two matches last season, with the Buccaneers running 3-0 victors at home before the Team of Choice avenged that result with a 3-1 win at Harry Gwala Stadium later in the campaign.
Things are even as far as head-to-head results go in the last six meetings between these two teams, with each winning three and the last four encounters have each produced a minimum of three goals.
