Nedbank Cup: Bucs Set for Usuthu Challenge

Orlando Pirates are set to take their Nedbank Cup title defence to KwaZulu-Natal, where they will lock horns with AmaZulu in the quarterfinals.

The Buccaneers continue their quest for back-to-back titles after notching up the coveted piece of silverware for the ninth time when they triumphed in the tournament’s previous edition.

After finishing the weekend among the eight teams remaining in this year’s competition, they were drawn against the KwaZulu-Natal outfit fresh off a 2-0 win away to Sekhukhune United.

Usuthu kicked off their campaign with a 1-0 win in a dramatic derby clash at home against provincial rivals Royal AM.

Following their successful travels in the Round of 16, they are set to host the Soweto Giants who notched up a 6-0 win on the road against fourth-tier outfit Crystal Lake in the opening round before bagging a 4-0 victory over Championship side Hungry Lions at Orlando Stadium in the Round of 16.

The fixture matches up the two oldest professional sides in South African football, with Pirates looking to take another step towards a 10th title while AmaZulu are still in search of their first triumph, having finished as runners-up six times since 1971.

The match venue, along with the date and kick-off time, will be announced by the Premier Soccer League in due course.
