Holiday Program at the Learning Centre

While most learners spent their holiday relaxing, sixty students from A.B Xuma, Leratong, Lereshe and Thembalithle Primary Schools were hard at work improving on their Maths skills. Students who have been struggling with Maths at school came to the Learning Centre during their break in September to improve their skills with the educational programme on offer at the Club’s facility in Orlando Stadium.

Learner, Itumeleng Makete, from A.B Xuma said, “These kinds of programmes are great, they help us to improve our Maths and to catch up with the other students who are doing well. They also keep us engaged and motivated during our school holidays.”

The objective of the Learning Centre Holiday Program is to assist those students who are currently struggling with Maths at school. This course allows these students the opportunity to learn fundamental skills and focusses on the key development areas of each learner.

Orlando Pirates commends these students for taking time out of their holiday to better their abilities through education and the opportunities the Learning Centre presents to them.

The Orlando Pirates Learning Centre continues to offer educational programmes for students in and around Soweto all through the year and has reached more than 10 000 learners since its inception in 2012. Students from over 23 schools attend the Centre every term to improve their English, Maths and IT skills, and to prepare for life in the working environment.
