Injury Update

30 December, 2022

Orlando Pirates’ Medical Team has issued an update ahead of the resumption of DStv Premiership action today.

The League makes its comeback on a high note with the Buccaneers headlining the fixture list as they travel to Tshwane to resume rivalries with log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld.

However, Jose Riveiro's and his charges will go into battle without the services of four First Team players, who have all been sidelined by injury ahead of the encounter.

Wing-back Tebogo Tlolane is among those ruled out after suffering a medial collateral ligament (MCL) tear, and could be back in full training in mid-January.

He is joined in the injury list by central defender Olisa Ndah, who is likely to be out of action until the end of January after also picking up a niggle.

Also on the mend is goalkeeper Richard Ofori facing up to a further month on the sidelines following a knee injury that ruled him out of the FIFA World Cup.

Attacking midfielder Thembinkosi Lorch is another player due back at the end of January, having not featured for the Club since being withdrawn early after suffering a knock during the stalemate away to SuperSport United back in August. He is on track to rejoin his teammates for most of the second half of the season.

Meanwhile, Pirates have been boosted by the return of of defenders Innocent Maela and Nkosinathi Sibisi to full training after both picked up niggles prior to the recess.
