Mhango in Hot Form for Flames

15 January, 2022

Gabadinho Mhango was in scintillating form as he bagged a brace in Malawi's victory over Zimbabwe in the African Cup of Nations clash held in Bafoussam, Cameroon last night.

The Flames came from a goal down to win the clash 2-1 and with that, keep their qualification hopes alive with one more match left to play in Group B.

With this victory, this generation of Malawians have registered the nation’s second only victory in an African Cup of Nations event - the last success coming in 2010 against Algeria.

Speaking to Orlandopiratesfc.com, the 29 year old marksman said: “I am very pleased with last night’s performance. It was not an easy match especially when you consider that we had to come from behind. Our teamwork and team spirit is what got us this result and we will approach the next match the same way.”

Malawi currently trail Senegal and Guinea by a single point and are set to meet the Senegalese in an all or nothing affair at the same venue on Tuesday, while Zimbabwe will meet Guinea in Yaounde.
