The Pirates Cup, the biggest and most prestigious Under-21 soccer tournament in South Africa is back.
The stage is set for the 2025 instalment of the annual event that will be hosted over the Easter Weekend, and it promises to be bigger and better than before.
With over 1,500 team entries received since registration opened last week, the battle to secure a spot in this prestigious competition has been intense. However, only the best of the best will take to the field, with only 44 male and 16 female spots available for the tournament.
This year, the stakes have been raised even higher. To celebrate the continued growth and impact of the Pirates Cup, the organisers have increased the prize money to a massive R250,000. The men’s champions will now walk away with R100 000 (up from R80 000), while the women’s champions will claim R50,000 (up from R40,000).
The Pirates Cup isn’t just a competition – it’s a platform where the country’s rising football stars showcase their talent, chase their dreams, and compete for glory. Expect thrilling matches, fierce rivalries, and unforgettable moments as South Africa’s future football legends make their mark.
Registration for the annual soccer spectacle is still open.
How to Register?
Teams can now register for the tournament through the official Orlando Pirates website at https://piratescup25.forms.app/pirates-cup-2025-registration.
However, space is limited, and teams are encouraged to apply early. It’s important to note that registering does not constitute entry into the competition. Successful applicants will be notified by February 28, 2025.
