PSL Season in Numbers

30 May, 2018

The PSL Awards held at the Sandton Convention Centre last night brought the curtains down on the 2017/18 PSL season.

Mamelodi Sundowns forward Percy Tau was the biggest winner on the night as he walked away with the coveted Footballer of the Season award. The 24-year old was also named Player’s Player of the Season and winner of the PSL Golden Boot award.

The PSL season was filled with many ups and downs, including some surprises which saw the likes of defending Champions Bidvest Wits missing out on a top eight finish and Ajax Cape Town dropping down to the National First Division.

For Orlando Pirates it was a season of rebuilding, a season of restoration following a very poor 2016/17 season. The Buccaneers finished second on the log table – only five points behind the Brazilians. With that, the Buccaneers also qualify for the 2018/19 CAF Champions League

Whilst we are still in the spirit of the awards, Orlandopiratesfc.com takes a look back at the past season and looks at the top performing teams and players per category on a statistical basis.
